Atlanta, GA band The Coathangers have scheduled a massive summer tour to support their forthcoming album Larceny & Old Lace, out June 7 via Suicide Squeeze. The tour will be preceded by a few shows in their hometown – an all ages in-store on June 8 at Criminal Records and a 21 and over CD release show June 18 at Highland Ballroom. Additionally, 21 and over fans attending the June 8th in-store that purchase the album will receive a guest list spot for June 18 Highland Ballroom show.
From June 19 – July 3 and July 14 – August 2, the band will embark on a major US tour which includes a festival appearance at Iowa City’s Firecracker 500. There will be additional tour confirmations shortly – current tour dates here.
To celebrate the tour, the band is offering Larceny & Old Lace track “Trailer Park Boneyard” MP3 for download. Altered Zones premiered the track, and had this say, “After the Coathangers’ "Hurricane”, the awesome Atlanta foursome are back in our lives with their third LP, Larceny & Old Lace. The two elements in the title are well manifested in “Trailer Park Boneyard,” wherein the usually cheeky, jokey, gritty girls show a more vulnerable and mature side in this blue garage ballad. The vocals lack the usual sarcasm and are more sincere and touching, almost in a punch-in-the-stomach kind of way (we all know that you’re sensitive). With that being said, they remain faithful to their signature sound by cleverly breaking into instrumental noise right after demanding, “Set me free” This, boys and girls, is how punk becomes post-punk" (see Altered Zones May 24).
Larceny & Old Lace will be available on CD, LP and at all DSPs on June 7 – and is available for pre-order now. The album was produced, recorded & engineered by Ed Rawls and Justin McNeight at Living Room Studios in Atlanta, GA and features 11 tracks.
