The Coathangers had a mega 2016. On top of celebrating 10 years of being a band, the Atlanta trio released ‘Nosebleed Weekend,’ toured the world from North America and Europe to Australia and New Zealand, opened for REFUSED, and made waves with their Late Night TV debut on Last Call with Carson Daly. Not only that, ‘Nosebleed Weekend’ made Billboard’s Top 200 for the first time. If you missed out this year, The Coathangers have announced tour dates in February and March of 2017.

Did we miss anything? We caught up with The Coathangers to hear their thoughts on this crazy year plus their new favorites of 2016 Spotify playlist. Listen Now.

Pro tips for staying zen while recording?
The Coathangers:
Getting good rest the night before going in is key. Going into the studio hung over is the most frustrating… you don’t nail it and you get mad. Then you drink more and it becomes a wasted day. Gotta go in with a clear head ready to work. it’s way more productive and fun.

What was it like touring with REFUSED?
CH:
REFUSED is an amazing band and we felt privileged to be able to watch them every night. They are all super nice guys too. Quiet and a bit reserved but very thoughtful. They definitely inspired us to play harder.

Something you learned about your bandmates this year?
CH [Crook Kid]:  hmmm… i learned that Steph is excellent at talking to nervous, terrible Uber drivers and that Meredith is finally into wearing pants! And patience. we all learn more and more patience every year.

Number of squeaky dog toys gone through on tour?
CH [Crook Kid]:
Just two. I always bring a back up and have had several fans bring squeeky toys for me. That rules! I once got a super stoney dinosaur.

Favorite moments from 2016?
CH:
favorite moment of 2016 is when we finished “Down Down” and the record came out!

Biggest surprises of 2016?

CH: Biggest surprise. well that’s hard to say. There were good surprises and really bad ones. This years been a doozy. I’ll choose to talk about a good one tho. We were thrilled to get such a positive response to the new record and to chart on Billboard 200 for the first time. and also realizing we have been together for 10 years. That one really snuck up on us.

Best actual nosebleed of 2016?
[Minnie]:
I got a nosebleed during one of our shows in Canada and we didn’t stop the show. We had one more song so I played drums for cheap cheap with a nosebleed!

Song you’d love to cover?
CH:
The Rolling Stones – She’s So Cold

2017 New Year’s Resolutions?
