2018 has brought Suicide Squeeze some remarkable highlights. We welcomed Southern California favorites SadGirl and Death Valley Girls to the label. SadGirl released their “Breakfast For 2” EP and brought a delightful mix of rock n’ roll and surf rock to the world and we look forward to all that they have in store for 2019. Death Valley Girls’ third album, Darkness Rains, kicked off with a video starring Iggy Pop and continues to wow after tours in North America where they brought the record to life.
The Coathangers released their first ever LIVE record and stayed hard at work touring Europe and North America, garnering inspiration for the coming year. Lead vocalist/guitarist Julia Kugel explored more of her solo project, White Woods, with videos for “Big Talking” and “Paper Cutout.” After a successful debut release in 2017, L.A. WITCH toured all over North America, the U.K. and Europe, performing headlining tours and supporting Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats and The Distillers. Their new EP, Octubre, was released digitally in November and will be out in physical format in 2019. Back home in the Pacific Northwest, John Atkins and James Van Leuven of Sun Breaks challenged the norms of experimental pop in their debut album, All On Camera.
After 17 incredible years, we say goodbye to Minus the Bear. Their final studio release, Fair Enough, is a gift to fans who have supported the band throughout their career. The Farewell Tour, which showcased the best of Minus the Bear’s expansive catalog in sold out venues all over North America, concludes with three sold out shows in their hometown of Seattle this weekend.
With 2018 drawing to a close, we asked the wonderful artists, musicians, and friends of Suicide Squeeze to share their Best of 2018 with us. We appreciate all of the love and support you have shown us this year and we wish you health and happiness in 2019!
