Coral Grief’s new full-length, Air Between Us, is a motorik dream pop opus from the emerging staple of the Seattle scene. The atmospheric record from the trio is out this Friday, July 18, 2025. Today, Coral Grief share the final single, “Starboard,” which is subtly commanding, albeit surreal. “Ageless and anchored / Built in, belabored / Staircase of water / Each step a filter,” Lena Farr-Morrissey sings on the chorus, ruminating on an embrace of aimlessness. “Starboard” rings out on an unlikely, jagged chord, suggesting a newfound comfort with ambiguity.
On “Starboard,” Lena Farr Morrissey from Coral Grief shares: “‘Starboard’ is all about trial & error, and learning how to embrace the messiness of unpredictability. Having no end goal or destination can be scary but liberating, and this song is our version of capturing that mindset.”
