The Coathangers are excited to announce their November tour schedule in support of their critically acclaimed third album, Larceny & Old Lace, out now on Suicide Squeeze. The band will act as main support for Blackheart Records act Girl In A Coma, which begins on November 4 in Dallas, TX at The Prophet Bar and wraps up on November 20 in Madison, WI at High Noon Saloon. The Coathangers also have a few headline & solo shows that bookend the tour – November 3 in Austin, TX for a Fun Fun Fun Fest afterparty (venue TBA), November 21 in St. Louis, MO at The Firebird and November 22 in Nashville, TN at The End. Full tour dates below.
There has been a flurry of activity surrounding The Coathangers as of late. The band released a well-received video for Larceny & Old Lace second single, “Trailer Park Boneyard,” which premiered via The Fader. Meanwhile, the band stopped by Laundro Matinee’s studios in Indianapolis to record a session that features Larceny… singles “Hurricane” and “Trailer Park Boneyard” along with album cut, “Sicker.” Laundro Matinee says of the session, “As I watch and listen to the footage of this week’s session featuring The Coathangers, I can’t help but think of Halloween. Maybe it’s the oncoming presence of fall as it creeps in undeniably with the wind, a little more every day. Maybe it’s my intense craving for candy as of late, and I’m subconsciously fantasizing about the mother of all candy-giving holidays. Most likely, it’s the aesthetic of The Coathangers; a lively clash of dissonance and melody in which every instrument and voice contributes to the overall haunting sound. Think The Dead Weather but with a sharper edge, making The Coathangers ever more viscous, yet ever more gentle.”
The Coathangers also stopped by Dirty Laundry in Los Angeles for an interview with host Malia James, where they talk about how the band got it’s start, what it’s like to be on the road, and more. Additionally, Life + Times met up with the Coathangers while on a tour stop in Philly and jumped in the van for three days – to film a short documentary on the band, entitled “Guns and Roses”.
