Best of 2018: Frankie Davison (Stereo Sanctity)

Best Music
I’d say some of my most listened to albums this year, excluding all the ones I’ve worked on, are Mitski – Be the Cowboy, Robyn – Honey, Marie Davidson – Working Class Woman, Dream Wife – Dream Wife, Molly Nilsson – 2020,  Jon Hopkins – Singularity, Cardi B – Invasion of Privacy, Gwenno – Le Kov,  Against All Logic – 2012-2017 & Adrianne Lenker – abyss kiss. I also really love Kelsey Lu and saw her live in Paris for the first time in October, which was pretty special – she hasn’t released an album but the new tracks are great <3
Best Book
The best book I’ve read this year is A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. It didn’t come out this year but 2018 is the year I read it so I hope this counts! It was a real life changer for me. If you ever want to cry in public, this one’s for you! I was reading it on the train to work one morning and another passenger stopped and asked if I was ok as I was such a mess reading it.
Best TV Show
Killing Eve is really great – it’s showing on the BBC over here but I imagine there’s a way to find it in the US 🙂
Best Film(s)
The most recent film I saw was A Star Is Born and I loved that. To be honest, I’d probably love anything with Gaga in. Other great & memorable films I’ve watched this year have been Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri & Tully.
Best Food
I went traveling around the Pacific Northwest this September, which was amazing and we had some great food on this trip. A couple of standouts were Pok Pok, which is a Thai restaurant in Portland & Por Que No, which is a Mexican, also in Portland – their vegan tacos were sooo good. I have also eaten plenty of good food in London – I went to The Palomar in the summer and that was really good – you get Middle Eastern small plates. As well as this, there’s a vegan restaurant in Dalston in London called Pamelas, which is good for cocktails and has a changing menu, but every time I’ve been the food has been great. Also I love Franco Manca, which is a chain that does sourdough pizza as it’s cheap and always reliable! Was that too many? Maybe I eat too much…
Highlight
A personal highlight was starting a queer club night in London called FLAPJACK with a friend of mind. We didn’t really have any idea what we were doing, but with the help of our other friends, various drag artists and a lot of Madonna songs, we managed to pull it off!
