Best of 2018: Jesse LeDoux (Artist)

I worked on some pretty cool projects this year. So I’d like my “Best of 2018” to be the ‘Best things I worked on in 2018’:
10. Fort George SUICIDE SQUEEZE IPA – Technically, this first came out a couple years ago. But it’s been so popular that they make a new batch once a year. If you live in the Pacific Northwest, keep your eyes open for it in the spring. The cans have thermochromic inks, so the green snake slowly dies as your beer gets warm.
9. Starbucks Blonde Espresso truck – For the launch of Starbucks Blonde Espresso roast, I was asked to design a truck to tour the country, handing out samples. I hired Rob Cristofaro from ALIFE to write a bunch of coffee-related words and designed a truck to look like it spent the night parked on the other side of the tracks.
8. Sun Breaks All on Camera album package – The first album I ever designed was 764-HERO’s Get Here and Stay. Since then, whenever John Atkins asks me if I want to design his record, the answer is always always always YES.
7, 6, 5, 4 and 3. Pedro the Lion is back! – Shortly after I heard Pedro the Lion was starting to record new material, Dave Bazan called and asked me if I would be interested in designing his next record. Except (and this is the best part!) it’s not just his next record, but the NEXT FIVE RECORDS (thus taking up 5 spots on my countdown). Dave wants the next five records to work as a series, so I’ve mapped out how they will all work. I can’t wait for people to see how they all come together.
2. Facebook mural – Facebook asked me to create a mural across 3 walls of their Seattle offices. It was one of the funnest projects I have ever worked on. It’s 60’ long, by 12’ tall and constructed mostly from painted plywood elements. John Atkins (Sun Breaks/Magic Magicians/764-HERO) even helped me paint some of it. I kinda wish this project never ended.
1. Louvre mural – I DID A 70’ MURAL IN THE F#@%ING LOUVRE!!! I know…I don’t believe it either. And better yet, it’s pressed into concrete panels! Once it was pressed/installed, I flew out to Paris to hand paint the concrete on site. It was long days/late nights, but it was MAGICAL. I even got to use the back-alley employee entrance each morning. I don’t have a photo of the whole thing (because…well…it’s 70’ long!), but here’s the part with the peacock. Will I ever find a project that will top this?!? Or is it all downhill from here?
